MC Gives Back 2017: Sacramento Habitat for Humanity

The second Gives Back trip of 2017 is complete! From July 12th – 15th, 12 of our staff members served at Habitat for Humanity of Sacramento, CA. Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to build affordable homes in partnership with families in need, supported by a host of volunteers, faith based organizations, donors and corporations for the betterment of our community. The team spent their time in Sacramento preparing the land for a new housing development by clearing out old underbrush and putting up a new fence.

Habitat for Humanity Sacramento, California

We chose to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento because of their proven track record of facilitating teams to give back for the betterment of our community.

Data Center Manager, Maintenance Connection

Putting up the new fence was no small feat – The soil was as hard as clay, there was an unmarked water main to work around, and the temperature was in the 90s all week! One of the highlights from the week was finding innovative solutions as a team. “There were a number of large roots growing right where we needed to put in the fence, so we had to figure out how to cut them out with the limited tools we had on hand”, said Austin, the Gives Back Team Leader.

As you can see, the team had a great week serving at Habitat for Humanity! And best of all, they were able to give back to an organization that has given so much to one of our very own.

MC Gives Back 2017: YMCA Na Na Bo Sho Wisconsin

This spring one of the groups from Maintenance Connection was able to spend 3 days serving at the YMCA camp Na Na Bo Sho in Lakewood, Wisconsin. Camp Na Na Bo Sho that serves kids ages 5-17 years old. The kids spend their time at the summer camp engaging a variety of activities such as hiking, canoeing, arts & crafts, and other team-building exercises.
This YMCA camp was chosen by our Customer Support Manager, Ken Shampo. There was a time in Ken’s life when his family struggled financially, and Camp Na Na Bo Sho helped his family through that difficult time.

I picked the trip to the YMCA because they hold a special place in my heart. There were many years where my family struggled financially, and the YMCA was there to help us through that.

While at Camp Na Na Bo Sho, the Gives Back Team focused on 2 projects: Constructing a low-ropes course, and building a gaga pit. Check out this awesome recap video to hear stories and interviews from the team!
