May is MC Gives Back Local month where all Maintenance Connection staff is challenged to find a way to give back in their community. With staff in 17 different states, there are many opportunities to reach wide and make an impact. Two groups of MC staff took an afternoon on May 10 to partner with Volunteers of America (also an MC customer) in Denver and Sacramento.
In Denver, the team spent time in their community helping with VOA’s Better Block project. The community revitalization project was created to clean up and and improve the area surrounding the Sonny Lawson Park.
The Sacramento team spent a few hours at the Senior Safe House, which is a housing program of VOA that supports abused and neglected senior citizens. They transition senior citizens from unsafe home environments to a safe location while they help them get back on their feet. The home is surrounded by gardens and paths for the seniors, and the MC team was able to help by picking weeds and improving the grounds.
