We’re excited to announce our 2012 MC Gives Back expedition to Costa Rica in September. We will be partnering again with Young Life to spend a week working with the staff and leaders to help with various projects. In Costa Rica, there are a variety of ministries going on with disabled kids to teen moms to teenage kids. The MC teams will connect directly with families associated with these ministries and develop great friendships while serving. The 2012 team will leave on September 21st and travel to Costa Rica. They will work in the community for most of the week alongside Young Life staff and leaders. Then they will spend a couple days enjoying the country, and return back to the US on September 28.
Young Life has been involved in Costa Rica for over 25 years and now serves in 12 areas. They have more than 140 volunteers involved in the ministry, loving on kids each and every week.
Young Life Costa Rica began in 1981 when two adult Costa Ricans desiring to reach youth with the Gospel of Christ met a Young Life missionary. The missionary was at a conference sharing about how to reach youth. The vision he shared to present the message of Christ and help youth grow in their faith was a match, and the adventure of Young Life in Costa Rica began.
The first club began in Lourdes, Montes de Oca, in San José. It was a huge success! The club began to grow and two years later the first ever Young Life Costa Rica camp occurred. Currently we serve kids through community based outreach, internaFonal schools Young Life, internaFonal schools Wlyd Life, Capernaum and camping.
